Easy process,
I’m a big fan of Dreamweaver and this latest edition has all the bells and whistles I need. The layout and general use hasn’t changed much in the last four versions or so but the newer version adds new functionality.
I wanted to mention how the Student and Teacher Edition works at Amazon. No verification is required to buy the product but once you get it the box explains what needs to be done to activate it. You install and enter the product id and then are asked for the serial number, which is only provided after Adobe verifies your student or teacher status. You can run it for 30 days in trial mode while you wait for activation. To be verified you sign in at Adobe and post scanned proof, which is normally your student or teacher id. They verified mine within 12 hours (on a week day). If you’re using the app in trial mode you can add the serial number in the help menu. Simple and quick.

|Dreamweaver Still a good program,
I was a little hesitate to buy the student edition of CS5.5 Dreamweaver because of all the problems people reported online regarding how difficult it was to certify your school status to get the serial number activating Dreamweaver. Yes, you do have to have a valid school email address because that’s where Adobe sends the serial number.
My only problem was my trial version has expired and I had uninstalled it prior to buying Dreamweaver. Without the trial being installed, the install disk wouldn’t install. Once I reinstalled the trial, I was able to enter the emailed serial number in the trial version, and voila, Dreamweaver has been working since. I’m still learning the program but find Dreamweaver easy to use with its three way, code, split, and design views and with it’s ability to upload to your website once you set all your server configurations in the Manage Site menu. Years ago, a ‘student’ edition usually meant the software had areas that were grayed out and unusable or missing key components that a lot of times you’d need. So far I haven’t come across anything like that.
There is a learning curve with Dreamweaver but where I bought the program for school, it fits my needs quite nicely. Being on sale helped a lot since Adobe products tend to be out of my reach money-wise.

|Ships Without Many Add-ons,
As a long time user of Macromedia’s Dreamweaver, finally updated to a new version and was disappointed that many of the add-ons that come standard with the Macromedia version are not shipped with Adobe’s version. Had to search to find most of what was already in place on my old version. Also very heavy start-up. Used to streamlined Macromedia. Adobe version automatically logs you in to websites at start-up. Needs a lot more resources.
