I agree on the TTL. Great video and great channel. 5 stars + favorited.
Matt makes a great point about TTL. I must remember that next move, but hopefully there is never a next time. I love my web hosting company. Excellent… everything.
@sdinnall theres a way pm me
Yes, Changing your domain can really affect the SEO or the ranking of your site that why you need to repeat the things you did on the first domain if you decide to change it.
@ssinnal … AFAIK with Flash CS4 there are several options set improve SEO for flash site.
But I would not totally count on that. If your Flash Content is delivered via Database or XML, you may should also deliver the content in that way.
Any further info on that would be to technical for you I guess.
the most important part of the answer was at the beginning of the video. All the rest is in my opinion just a tech tip to make sure your site has no “interruption” while changing hosts.
I second this thought Mike.
The only reason Matt is even talking about TTL and switching is that if your site is not proper reachable for google bots because they get the wrong site (maybe with old content or no site at all).
Please keep in mind that you need to set your DNS TTL to a low value well before migrating (if you had a TTL of a week, you need to do it a week before the migration to make sure that the new TTL reaches every single DNS server out there). After the migration is complete, raise your TTL again and you should be good in no time.
@mrguru84 No – unless you’re using a new domain your SEO won’t be affected.
So when he says that if you’re only changing host and nothing to do with changing domain, does that mean if you change your domain registrar that will have SEO affects?
thanks
Hello, is there a way to get a fully flash site ranked on google? I am not a webmaster so please keep all answers in simple terms. Also, I ‘ve created a blog with the exact same content as my flash site, then linked the website from the blog. Will this help? If not what else can I do. Right now changing the site to html is not an option. PLEASE help!
Matt, this is VERY USEFUL information. And for once you really ‘answer’ the question very clear. Believe me or not many people still think changing host affects rankings in a certain way. Something about trust, and something about patents Google has been made about site and host age factors. Thanks!
I was also wondering this too.
Thanks!
i have no income yet so i wonna free alternitive..
